Zurich Launches Architectural Competition to Redevelop its Global Headquarters

Zurich Financial Services Group is planning to redevelop its global headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. The Group has invited 15 internationally renowned architects to participate in the competition for its Corporate Center at Mythenquai 2 in Zurich. The complex comprises five buildings and has served as Zurich’s headquarters for more than 110 years.

The goal of the redevelopment is to create the most effective and flexible use of space which also meets Zurich’s vision regarding sustainability, health and safety and an enhanced work place for its employees. A decision on the winning project is scheduled for late summer 2012. According to preliminary timelines, the planning phase will extend to 2015 and realization and commission is foreseen from 2015 to 2018.

The planned headquarters redevelopment underscores the Group’s commitment to the City and Canton of Zurich as well as ensuring an attractive, efficient and sustainable workplace for its employees. In consideration of some of the buildings’ history, Zurich is closely coordinating the project with the relevant authorities of the City and Canton.
