XL Group to Be Honored by Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation

IICFThe Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) Northeast division will honor XL Group plc (NYSE: XL) at the organization's 2012 benefit dinner on Wednesday December 12, 2012 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.
 
IICF will present XL Group with the IICF 2012 "Double I" award for influence in the industry and impact in the community. Accepting the honor will be Mike McGavick, XL Group CEO. Presenting the award will be Brian Duperreault, president and CEO of Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc.
 
XL's philanthropic endeavors focus on supporting education, young people, the environment, sport and the arts in the communities where its people live and work.
 
Each year, XL holds a "Global Day of Giving," setting aside a business day to enable thousands of XL colleagues around the world to work for the community. From its beginning in 2006 when XL celebrated its 20th anniversary, the Global Day of Giving has grown with XL employees donating more than 100,000 hours of community service to hundreds of charitable projects in various locations worldwide.
 
During the 2012 Global Day of Giving, XL associates worked on more than 150 projects to address community issues, including disaster relief, education, the environment, homelessness and hunger, and senior care.
 
The IICF benefit event, held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City, begins with a 6 p.m. reception. The dinner, now in its sixth year, is the premier insurance event in the New York tri-state area and is attended by 900 insurance industry leaders.
