In honoring Guy Carpenter, the judging panel cited the firm's "innovative approach and long-
standing reputation” in Asia. Award judges also acknowledged the strength of Guy
Carpenter’s global network and its ability to share information and knowledge, both globally
and within the Asian market. In addition, the panel praised Guy Carpenter’s tradition of
innovation, including their sophisticated risk management platform, specialized models
covering Asian risks and establishment of the Asia-Pacific Climate Impact Centre (GCACIC),
focusing on Asia Pacific climate perils.
Guy Carpenter was the first reinsurance broker to establish a headquarters in Asia-Pacific and
maintains deep roots throughout the region. The firm’s Asia-Pacific business grew significantly in
2008, across a number of core territories, including Japan, greater China and Southeast Asia.
The Asia Insurance Industry Awards, now in their 13th year, recognize the leaders in the global
(re)insurance industry. Award winners are selected by a sterling judging panel of 24 eminent
regional leaders and worldwide industry experts.
