Aon Benfield and the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) announced that their July 29 charity softball tournament in Central Park raised nearly $50,000 for Boys Hope Girls Hope New York and the Starlight Children’s Foundation NY*NJ*CT. Odyssey America Reinsurance Corp., the victor, beat out 12 teams from the reinsurance industry to win the tournament.
“Our industry foundation focuses on education and assistance for children in need. We are proud to be able to partner with Aon Benfield to host this annual event, which demonstrates how our industry can work together to make a significant difference in the lives of children in the New York tri-state area,” said Betsy Myatt, executive director of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation, New York.
“We know that our grants are more important than ever in these difficult times. The efforts of insurance industry organizations and professionals will help Boys Hope Girls Hope and Starlight achieve their extremely worthwhile missions.”
David Brinkman, executive managing director of Aon Benfield and IICF New York board chair, stated: “We are pleased to be able to partner with IICF to host this charity event and are grateful to all the companies who participated. Although the tournament is competitive, at the end of the day, all who participate feel like winners since we’ve been able to give back to the children in our community.”
In addition to the host, Aon Benfield, the contributing teams came from Allied World Reinsurance Co., Arch Reinsurance Co., Aspen Re America Inc., Endurance Reinsurance Corp. of America, Everest Reinsurance Co., Munich Reinsurance America, Inc., Odyssey America Reinsurance Corp., Partner Reinsurance Company of the U.S., QBE Reinsurance, Transatlantic Reinsurance Co., and XL Reinsurance America.
