Marsh, a leading insurance broker and risk advisor, announced the appointment of Peter Mavraganis as U.S. leader of its Renewable Energy Practice. In this role, he will oversee Marsh's support for its clients in renewable energy development, including solar, wind, biomass, and biofuel energy projects.
Mr. Mavraganis brings more than 35 years of experience in energy, power, utilities, and environmental risk management and insurance to the role. He succeeds Mark Fishbaugh, who will now lead Marsh efforts in support of clients involved in the construction of new U.S. nuclear facilities. Mr. Fishbaugh will also remain a key member of Marsh's Renewable Energy team.
"As they pursue unprecedented opportunities in the renewable energy arena, energy companies need risk management and insurance advice they can trust from professionals who understand their business and the emerging risks they face," said Dan McGarvey, Chairman of Marsh's U.S. Power and Utility Practice. "Peter Mavraganis' broad expertise in the environmental, energy, and utilities marketplaces will ensure Marsh continues to deliver superior brokerage and risk advisory services to our renewable energy clients. Peter's appointment demonstrates Marsh's commitment to remaining the leading broker to the renewable energy sector."
Mr. Mavraganis is based in Marsh's New York office and will report to Mr. McGarvey.
Marsh's U.S. Renewable Energy Practice provides complete risk management and insurance services to energy, power, and utility clients. Marsh's Power and Utility Practice serves more than 250 U.S. utility clients, including more than two-thirds of the gas and electric utility companies on the 2010 Fortune© 500 list.
