Founded in 1999, Larry and Jeff Neilson saw an opportunity with the launch of ProgramBusiness.com to help independent insurance agents find and gain access to the markets they needed for hard-to-place, unusual risks in the Excess & Surplus Lines and program business space. The genesis of their idea for an online platform came from years of providing agents with telemarketing services through their parent company, Neilson Marketing Services. A recurring request they both heard was, “Guys, can you help me get a market for this account?”
On the flip side, they kept hearing from carriers, MGAs, wholesalers and program administrators to connect them with Neilson’s robust agency database to announce new products, expand their reach with a new program, appoint new agencies. ProgramBusiness.com was formed to serve the needs of both sides of the insurance distribution system for specialty programs.
