“We had a remarkable turn-out from insurance industry professionals all around the Greater Philadelphia area who are passionate about giving back to the communities where they do business,” said Thomas Trullinger, Philadelphia board chair and Area Executive of Zurich North America. “Many of these individuals see how the insurance industry plays an indispensable role in helping protect and restore a sense of normalcy for insureds every day. But it’s at events like these, as well as the industry’s Week of Giving volunteer work every October that gives them an up-close view of how they directly affect the lives of others in a positive way.”

Peter’s Place (http://petersplaceonline.org) was founded in 2001 by a group of friends who were mourning the death of ten-year-old Peter Morsbach. Peter’s Place provides free peer support groups for grieving children and families both at its center in Radnor and in schools throughout the Greater Philadelphia area. Peter’s Place is a safe and compassionate community where families can get support after the death of someone significant in their lives by connecting with others who have had a similar experience.

“On behalf of Peter’s Place, I extend our heartfelt thanks to [the Philadelphia Chapter of IICF] for their amazing efforts and generosity,” said Catsy Pemberton, executive director of Peter’s Place. “The insurance industry certainly has set an example of what all industries should be doing; not only giving back to their local communities but getting the next generation involved and excited about philanthropy.”

Like the IICF Northeast Division of which it is a part, the IICF Philadelphia Chapter’s mission focuses on at-risk children, education, the environment and disaster preparedness. With more than 20 boards in the U.S. and UK, IICF brings together insurance industry professionals to give back to their local communities through grants, volunteer service and leadership.
