Vertafore, a leading provider of insurance distribution channel solutions, today announced the appointment of Mark Sonders as senior vice president of sales and client services. Reporting directly to the CEO, Sonders will lead the newly integrated agency, carrier and MGA sales and service organization with responsibility for sales, account management, marketing, professional services and client support.
Having built a successful career in sales and sales management in both the software and financial services sectors, Sonders joins Vertafore from Thomson Reuters, where he was most recently engaged in several sales and service transformation initiatives as managing director, head of direct sales, Americas.

The addition of the senior vice president of sales and client services position enables Vertafore to evolve its sales and services organization from one that was segregated by business unit into a more unified structure, with one executive ensuring a consistent customer experience across all market segments. As part of this evolution, Vertafore also announced today that Matt McKernan, president of carrier and MGA markets, will be leaving the company in the coming weeks to pursue other opportunities.
Additionally, Bill Bunker, president of agency markets, will assume an interim role as senior vice president of professional services and support for a brief period to assist in the transition of Vertafore customer services to a single organization before moving on to pursue other opportunities. Under the streamlined sales and client services organization model, Vertafore will be eliminating the roles of president of agency markets and president of carrier and MGA markets.
