Specialty Insurance Brokerage Firm Stratus Sees Management Changes

Utah-based Stratus Insurance Services, Inc. has announced the promotion of Chris Van Leeuwen to President of the international specialty lines brokerage firm, taking over for retiring Bret Van Leeuwen.  Bret Van Leeuwen, founder of the firm, is retiring after 31 years in the insurance industry.  His focus will now change to continuing his humanitarian efforts in Africa (www.koinsforkenya.org).

Chris Van Leeuwen brings 25 years of extensive insurance experience, having spent the last five years at Stratus putting together national programs in a wide variety of industries. Chris has taught licensing classes locally, has served on the Board of the PIA in Utah, and has been a Certified Insurance Counselor for over 15 years. 

Daryle Stafford will become Senior Vice President over the brokerage division of Stratus while Melanie Allen has been promoted to Vice President of Underwriting and Operations. Daryle began his insurance career at Stratus almost a decade ago and oversees the brokerage division and several national programs. Melanie began her career with Stratus in 2005, is a Certified Insurance Counselor, and presently sits on the Surplus Lines Steering Committee for the Security and Insurance Licensing Association.
