PCI Elects New Officers to the Board of Governors at Annual Meeting

The Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) elected new officers to its Board of Governors during its annual meeting in Orlando on Wednesday. Janice M. Abraham, president and chief executive officer, United Educators Insurance, was elected as the association's new chair; Robert A. DiMuccio, president and chief executive officer, Amica Mutual Group, was elected first vice chair and Donald G. Southwell, president and chief executive officer, Unitrin, Inc. was elected second vice chair.

Abraham joined United Educators Insurance as president and CEO in January 1998. She is also president and CEO of United Educators Management Company (UMEC). Abraham has over 15 years of experience in serving the higher education community through her work as chief financial officer/treasurer at Whitman College, various senior positions at Cornell University and the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) where she served as staff associate. Abraham also served as an international banker for J. P. Morgan. She currently serves on the board of directors of United Educators and UEMC. Additionally, she serves as an overseer of Whitman College and on the Whitman College and Waycrosse Investment Committees, the American University’s School of International Service Dean’s Advisory Council, and the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges Consulting Editorial Board. In 2008, she chaired the search committee for U.S. Fencing’s search for an executive director. She is a former president of the Western Association of College and University Business officers (WACUBO) and a past member of the board of directors of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) and the National Risk Retention Association.

PCI’s First Vice Chair Robert DiMuccio became president and CEO of Amica Mutual Insurance Company in 2005. He began his career with the accounting firm KPMG Peat Marwick, where he worked for 12 years and earned the position of partner. He joined Amica in 1991 as a vice president in the Accounting Department, was promoted to senior vice president, and in 1996 he was awarded the additional title of treasurer. In 2001, DiMuccio attained another title, chief financial officer and was named executive vice president in 2003. He has earned the insurance industry’s prestigious Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) educational designation and is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Rhode Island Society of Certified Public Accountants.

PCI’s Second Vice Chair Donald Southwell became president and CEO of Unitrin, Inc. in 2006. He joined Unitrin in 1996 and has held a variety of operating positions including president and chief operating officer of Unitrin, Inc., president of the Life and Health Insurance Group, and president, Insurance Operations. Southwell also spent 22 years with Prudential Financial, Inc. and held a number of senior executive positions including president of Pruco Life Insurance Company, president of Prudential Insurance & Financial Services, and chair, Prudential Property & Casualty Company. Southwell is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Chartered Life Underwriter and a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter.
