Markel’s Chairman/CEO Receiving Medical Treatment, May Be Absent for Two Months

Markel Corporation announced today that Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alan Kirshner may be absent from the corporation's offices for most of December and January while receiving medical treatments.

Mr. Kirshner said: "I am confident that the business will be in good hands with the oversight of the other members of the Office of the Chairman, Steve Markel and Tony Markel,and the leadership of our Presidents Mike Crowley, Tom Gayner and Richie Whitt. I look forward to returning to the office by February and resuming my day-to-day duties."
