AGPOM's primary mission is to promote involvement in the Green Movement by building awareness of the financial benefits available to business owners. “Through AGPOM’s offerings, we are helping commercial real estate owners and managers make changes, elevate their commitment to sustainability, and deliver on both the responsibilities and opportunities that sustainable business practices represent,” said Dusty Rowland, Mainstay’s president and CEO.

AGPOM offers valuable property and casualty coverage specifically designed to address the needs of members who wish to reduce their insurance and operating costs by implementing the AGPOM Green Building Plan, Rowland said. “The plan focuses on the behavioral side of energy conservation while providing financial incentives through risk reduction,” he said. “AGPOM offers building owners the chance to walk before they run with more sophisticated certification programs such as LEED and ENERGY STAR. However, AGPOM encourages its members to ultimately seek those higher-level programs by offering additional premium savings for that level of commitment.”

Coverage will be placed exclusively through a retailer, Rowland noted. “We want to respect the relationship our agents and broker partners have with their customers,” he said. Further, AGPOM offers retail brokers an opportunity to differentiate themselves through a more consultative approach to a pressing business need. “Helping your clients reduce business risk, lower operating costs and improve their image seems like a win-win for everyone,” said Rowland.

Available lines of coverage include property, general liability, auto, umbrella, crime and fidelity.

Retail agents and brokers can join AGPOM as associate and charter members. Charter members, which are limited by city and state, will be considered the founding partners and will benefit from broker-of-record protection as well as additional marketing and lead-generation features, Rowland noted.

Besides the insurance offerings, the association’s benefits for property owners and managers include:
Renewable energy strategy that offers carbon footprint reduction and possible LEED points
Discounted professional services including legal and green consulting
Updates on green news and trends including a quarterly newsletter and daily blog.
