Chartis Global Commercial Insurance Names Tim Carter Chief Underwriting Officer

Chartis announced that Tim Carter has been named Chief Underwriting Officer for Chartis Global Commercial Insurance, responsible for underwriting leadership, strategy and governance for the Financial Lines, Specialty, Property, Casualty and Global Risks Solutions businesses within Chartis Global Commercial Insurance.

“Tim will lead our efforts to enhance risk selection and underwriting tools, as well as ensure greater consistency in the underwriting process worldwide,” said John Q. Doyle, Chief Executive Officer of Global Commercial Insurance. “We are pleased to have Tim play a key role within Chartis’ global commercial
management team as we continue to refine the structure of the business as part of the corporate reorganization announced earlier this year.”

Mr. Carter joins Chartis from Zurich Financial Services Group, where he was the Chief Underwriting Officer for Zurich in North America. His previous positions at the company included serving as European Chief Underwriting Officer, Underwriting Director for Personal Lines, and Pricing Director for
Commercial and Corporate business in the U.K. Mr. Carter began his career as an actuarial consultant for Watson Wyatt. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of Nottingham and he is a Fellow of the Institute of the Actuaries.
