Allied World, American Modern, CNA and John Hancock Are Top Winners at 2011 IMCA Showcase Awards

American Modern Insurance Group and CNA shared IMCA’s top honor, Allied World and John Hancock tied for the most Best of Show awards and The Hartford walked away with seven Awards of Excellence at the 2011 IMCA ShowcaseTM Awards.

These prestigious awards recognizing the best in brightest in insurance marketing and communications were held during the IMCA (Insurance Marketing and Communications Association) Annual Meeting June 26-29 in Toronto. Now in its 53rd year, IMCA Showcase presented awards in 34 categories covering such areas as advertising, sales promotion, multimedia campaigns, TV/radio, the Internet, employee communications, annual reports, e-commerce, community service campaigns and public relations.

American Modern Insurance Group and CNA shared IMCA’s top recognition, the coveted SAMMYsm prize, which is awarded to the overall best submission and voted on by attendees at the IMCA Annual meeting. American Modern’s winner was its “In the Woods” Bears commercial and the CNA winner was the “I am/We Are CNA” Employee Communications Campaign. Allied World Assurance Company won four Best of Show awards, primarily in the Single-Item Sales/ Marketing/ Branding categories, while John Hancock Life Insurance also won four Best of Show awards, twice for their “Retirement Talk” campaign.

Winning three Best of Show Awards were:

• Liberty Mutual, including one in Mobile Marketing for their “Liberty Mutual Responsibility Ad.”
• Sun Life Financial, which stood out in marketing communications.
• PEMCO, including two for their “Northwest Profiles” campaign

Other Best of Show winners were: The Co-Operators, Farmers Insurance, JWT, Swiss Re, Arrowhead General Insurance, The Navigators, The Doctors Company, The Hartford, CNA, Aon Affinity, Shelter Insurance, Foremost Insurance Group, Vertibrands and PCI.

The Hartford was awarded seven Awards of Excellence, spanning categories from Employee
Communications to Sales/ Marketing/ Branding, as well as a Best of Show in the Public Relations (total campaign) category for their “The Hartford Bicentennial” campaign. CNA stood out with four Awards of Excellence and a Best of Show in Corporate Responsibility for their “2010 CNA Holiday Drive.”

American Modern, C N A, Farmers and Hanover Insurance Group each were honored with four Awards of Excellence across several categories. Other Awards of Excellence winners include: AFLAC, The Co-operators, Guardian Life, Liberty Mutual, Swiss Re, Breckenridge, A.M. Best, Arrowhead General Insurance, The Institutes, MICA, The Main Street America Group, Otterstedt Insurance Agency, AmWins, Foremost, Lexington Insurance, Farmers Insurance, The Tombras Group, Zurich, Westfield Insurance, American Family Insurance, Germania, Vertibrands and Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.
