Towers Watson Enhances Reinsurance Expertise in U.K.

Towers Watson has strengthened its presence in the London reinsurance market through three appointments to its UK reinsurance team, in response to growing opportunities. The new hires are John Weedon, Dan Bailey and David Tuttlebee.

John Weedon joins as joint managing director of the firm’s UK reinsurance team. He has spent 40 years in the London Market and specialises in non-marine property treaty reinsurance. He has worked for a number of London market companies and spent the past ten years with Walsham Brothers where he was head of broking for the non-marine division.

Ross Howard, COO Europe for Towers Watson’s Reinsurance business, said: “We are delighted that John, Dan and David have decided to join our already highly experienced team of London brokers. We are seeing increasing opportunities in the London and Bermuda markets and by building our capability in this way we are very well placed to offer our clients even better service and expert advice.”

Dan Bailey is an expert in ILW business and joins as a senior broker. He has over 25 years of experience and specialises in aviation, satellite and property non-proportional treaty reinsurance.

David Tuttlebee has spent almost 30 years in the London market specialising in non-marine property reinsurance.

Ross Howard said: “The continuing expansion of our reinsurance operations globally reflects increasing client demand for our expertise and we will look to continue bolstering our presence in key markets on an ongoing basis.”

These appointments follow seven senior hires recently in North America in the Property Catastrophe, Executive Liability and P&C Consulting Services areas.
