Aon Corporation, a leading global provider of risk management services and human capital solutions, has been honored with two awards for its diversity and inclusion efforts that have improved equity in the workplace.
Profiles in Diversity Journal honored Aon Consulting, the global human capital solutions business of Aon Corporation, with a 2010 International Innovation in Diversity Award of Excellence. The award, which recognizes companies that have distinguished themselves by virtue of the innovative approach they have taken to advance diversity in the workplace and in the communities they serve, recognized Aon Consulting's Employee Benefit Outsourcing group for its Unmatched Teams Initiative.
The initiative tackled three strategic imperatives to engage a diverse workforce – to recognize, nurture and promote talent. Executive Vice President and Practice Director, Ken Haderer, and his leadership team partnered with Novations, a leading provider of employee engagement and diversity training, to develop a learning curriculum to build awareness of the need for and power of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. To ensure an integrated approach, Aon merged Novations’ Appreciating Differences program with Aon’s own performance management tools and its Leadership Model.
Aon Consulting selected a team of Diversity Champions from across the business to develop and drive continued education and learning.
Haderer stated that due to the Unmatched Teams Initiative, “Aon Consulting has experienced higher levels of performance across the organization as measured by individual and team key performance indicators of productivity and service quality.”
In addition, on August 13, Aon President and Chief Executive Officer Greg Case was recognized by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency as one of four 2010 CEO Leadership Circle of Excellence award winners. The purpose of the award was to highlight CEOs whose personal leadership and commitment to diversity are models for the corporate community.
