The Travelers Companies, Inc. announced today that Lisa Caputo is joining the company as Executive Vice President, Marketing & Communications.

Caputo, who will serve on the company's Management Committee, will report to Executive Vice President Doreen Spadorcia for Marketing and Chief Legal Officer Alan Schnitzer for Communications. The appointment is effective June 1, 2011.

"We are very pleased to welcome someone of Lisa's caliber to our management team," said Travelers Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jay Fishman.

"Lisa's business talents, broad range of experience and expertise supporting category-leading brands make her a terrific addition to our organization."

Spadorcia said, "Lisa's skills make for a tremendous match with this key role, as we continue to enhance the strong Travelers franchise and further build on our service to customers through our independent agencies as well as the direct-to-consumer channel."

Caputo joins Travelers from Citigroup, where she was Managing Director and Senior Banker of the Public Sector Group of Citi's Institutional Clients Group.

Until recently, she served as Executive Vice President of Global Marketing and Corporate Affairs, responsible for the company's integrated marketing function and positioning strategy. Her previous experience at Citi included serving as Chief Marketing Officer, leading Citi's community relations operations, overseeing corporate communications during the financial crisis, and serving as Senior Managing Director, Business Operations and Planning for Citi's Global Consumer Group. Also at Citi, Caputo created and was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for 10 years of Women & Co. - a membership business designed to provide women with a range of financial services and resources.

Previously, Caputo spent over a decade in the public sector, including serving as Deputy Assistant to President Clinton and as Press Secretary to First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton at the White House during President Clinton's first term.
