Global professional services company Towers Watson has named John P. “Jay” Woods, III, North America regional leader of its brokerage business, effective September 1. Woods, based in New York, will report to William Eyre, Jr., managing director of Towers Watson’s brokerage business.
In his role, Woods, a 30-plus-year industry veteran, will be responsible for leading Towers Watson’s brokerage business in North America, including people management, managing client relationships, and supporting sales and marketing efforts. Woods will continue to play an active role in the market, working with clients and participating in key industry initiatives. He will also be a member of Towers Watson’s Brokerage, Risk and Financial Services, and North American Leadership Teams.
“Jay brings to this position a wealth of experience, including expertise in the broking of property, casualty, and accident, and health lines of business for both North American and global companies,” said Eyre. “He’s passionate about our business, and we are looking forward to Jay’s leadership in helping build on our strengths and address the many challenges facing our clients.”
Prior to joining Towers Watson, Woods was president of John P. Woods, Co. Inc., where he held various technical, administrative and broking positions from 1980 through January 2005. While he was president, in August 2000, John P. Woods, Co. Inc. became part of Arthur J. Gallagher. From that point on, he managed Gallagher’s North American treaty reinsurance operations until joining Towers Watson.
