ProWriters Acquired, Operates as Independent MGU

ProWriterProWriters, formerly a professional liability division of Venture Insurance Programs, has become an independent Managing General Underwriter (MGU). Brian Thornton, the new president of ProWriters and a 13-year veteran of the insurance industry, has acquired the program.

ProWriters provides professional and management liability insurance to specific industry segments including a focus on financial and healthcare industries. Delivered exclusively through agents and brokers, ProWriters offers directors and officers liability, errors and omissions, employment practices liability, crime, cyber and privacy liability coverage.

ProWriters provides access to insurers rated "A-" to "A++" by A.M. Best Co. with international capacity and excess limits available as well as risk management services.

Prior to acquiring ProWriters, Thornton was southwest regional executive and senior vice president for Hiscox Inc. He was responsible for opening regional offices in Los Angeles and Chicago, recruiting quality underwriting staff and building relationships with local agents and brokers. Before Hiscox, he worked as an underwriter for Chubb and National Union (AIG).
