The move aims to reconcile differences between the Republicans and Democrats, after accusations that the Democrats were trying to iron out differences between themselves. Around 10 Republican lawmakers have been invited to the session.

Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s chief of staff, has asked the Republicans to produce their own version of healthcare reform before the summit. The Democratic version, which the White House is working on, will be posted on the White House website on February 21.
