The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation's new Midwest division will make its first-ever grant to Bears Care, the charitable beneficiary of the Chicago Bears, and also will present the organization with the "Trailblazer Award." The $50,000 grant will be presented at the division's inaugural "Blazing the Trail" fundraising event at the Field Museum in Chicago on March 1.
Presenting the honors will be "Blazing the Trail" dinner chair J. Eric Smith, president and CEO of Swiss Reinsurance America Corporation and IICF Midwest grants committee chair Bill Donnell, president of U.S. property and casualty for Swiss Reinsurance America Corporation.
The IICF Midwest Trailblazer Award recognizes Bears Care's work in education, medical research and health awareness.
Accepting the award will be Dave Anderson, president of the Bears Care Board of Directors and Israel Idonije, Chicago Bears defensive end.
