The IICF is a national foundation committed to positively impacting communities at the local level. The 2012 Western Division grants mark a milestone for the division as it expands its community grants program beyond California into Colorado.

“The insurance industry is committed to supporting the communities we serve,” said Mark El-Tawil, Regional CEO, West Region, Humana Inc. and IICF Western Division Grants Committee Chair. “By working together as a united industry through the IICF, we are able to increase our philanthropic impact to benefit the specific needs of our communities.”

Receiving one of Colorado’s first community grants was Brent’s Place, an organization offering housing and support for families with children facing cancer. "We are honored and incredibly grateful to be a recipient of an IICF grant which allows us to support kids with cancer as they receive life-saving treatment. By providing safe-clean housing for children and their families, Brent's Place offers a home of hope and healing as families endure uncertain and challenging days," commented Bridget Fitzpatrick, Brent’s Place Director of Development.

The Western Division focuses grant making in four areas: Child Abuse Prevention, Education & Awareness; Disaster Preparedness & Response; Education & Literacy; and Health & Human Services.

The IICF seeks to help communities and enrich lives by combing the collective strengths of the insurance industry to provide grants, volunteer service and leadership. Initially founded in California in 1998, the Foundation has grown to serve the Western United States, the Northeast region, the Midwest, and Texas and the Southeast.
