On Monday, XL Capital Ltd said it named David Duclos as chief executive of its insurance operations, succeeding Clive Tobin, who will retire from that position on April 1.

After that date, Tobin will concentrate on seeking strategic opportunities for XL in emerging markets, the Bermuda-based insurance company said. Duclos is currently chief operating officer of XL insurance operations.
