Marsh today announced the appointment of David L. Eslick as chairman of Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC, its business unit dedicated to serving the insurance needs of small and emerging growth U.S. companies.

Mr. Eslick, who has nearly 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, most recently was chairman, president and CEO of USI Holdings. Under his leadership, USI doubled its annual revenues, significantly increased its earnings, and through the use of best practices and operational discipline dramatically increased the operating margin of the company.

"As we set our sights on growing Marsh & McLennan Agency, we need a strategic thinker with a track record of success in overseeing strong business expansion in our sector," said Joe McSweeny, president of Marsh's U.S./Canada division. "David brings the proven abilities not only to oversee a rapid business expansion in a difficult market environment, but also to instill the fiscal discipline required to improve margins and strengthen profitability at the same time. We're excited to have him team with Jack Butcher, president and CEO of Marsh & McLennan Agency, in building our firm's solution to the requirements of small and emerging growth companies."

"I'm delighted to join the Marsh & McLennan Agency as it prepares to begin operations. The small and emerging growth sector represents one of the most dynamic growth opportunities for Marsh in the U.S.," said Mr. Eslick. "It's clear that Marsh and MMC have a strong commitment to establish Marsh & McLennan Agency as a leader in this marketplace. I'm looking forward to working with Jack Butcher and Marsh’s leadership team as we build this exciting new enterprise across the country."
