Professional Insurance Agents of Arkansas (PIA of Arkansas), a statewide association of local, independent insurance agents, is among the newest sponsors of the American Insurance Marketing & Sales (AIMS) Society's Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) professional designation program.
Earning the CPIA designation requires completion of a series of Insurance Success Seminars. The three day-long CPIA workshops teach practical before-, during- and after-the-sale techniques for producers, sales managers, account managers, service staff and company marketing representatives.
By us offering the CPIA program in Arkansas, local agents will have an opportunity to gain a better understanding of insurance and the sales process," says Stacy Thompson, PIA of Arkansas education director. "Producers and CSRs will get hands-on experience while learning the various elements of building a good insurance program and making the sale.
"The increased knowledge and professionalism they gain will help drive better insurance programs, and could reduce their errors and omission exposures," she notes. "This could lead to better claims experience, which, in turn, could yield E&O premium savings down the road."
Arkansas residents and business owners also will benefit from the enhanced knowledge and professionalism the education programs deliver. "The more knowledgeable the local insurance agent or service person is, the better equipped he or she will be to educate, inform and serve the insurance buyer," Thompson adds. "People in this state don't just want an insurance agent; they want a friend. When disaster strikes, local insurance agents are there to turn to and help make people whole."
The first CPIA Insurance Success Seminar in Arkansas-Position for Success-is scheduled for October 4, 2011. The class will be held at the PIA of Arkansas headquarters, 10025 W. Markham, Suite 150 in Little Rock. CE credit is pending.
