On Wednesday, the White House stated that the administration's health care reform is not responsible for health-care system the large rate increases that insurers are seeking.
According to "The Wall Street Journal", some insurers have asked for rates hikes of up to 20%, partly to pay for new costs arising from the health law. But according to Stephanie Cutter, in a post on the White House blog, the increases were already in the works before the law was passed. She said the rate increases actually demonstrate the need for the reform, which the White House argues will lower health costs in the long run.
