The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. announced last week a $100,000 contribution to the American Red Cross's disaster relief efforts.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and concerned about the many thousands of Japanese people whose well-being and whereabouts are unknown," said Liam E. McGee, The Hartford's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "On behalf of my teammates at The Hartford, we hope for the quickest recovery and will keep those who have been affected in our thoughts and prayers."

The Hartford is encouraging its employees to contribute to relief efforts by visiting the Red Cross website.
