Collectify LLC has released its new Collectify Home InventoryTM Edition software, available at www.collectify.com. The software is offered at special pricing to insurance professionals so they can provide Collectify Home Inventory as a value-added service to personal lines insurance clients.

During 2005 through 2008, more than 90,000 homeowners insurance complaints to state insurance departments were “confirmed,” or upheld, according to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Many of those complaints related to claims.

“One of the straightforward, cost-effective ways to increase customer satisfaction—and prevent claims problems—is for agents to provide their personal lines clients with an easy-to-use tool to document their home and possessions,” explained Franklin Silverstone, chairman and CEO of Collectify LLC. “Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters produced untold stories of insurance claim catastrophes—and it doesn’t have to be that way.”

“We believe firmly that the independent insurance agent community is ready and willing to lead the industry toward better claims service, if it has the right tools,” Silverstone continued. “Since we worked closely with top personal lines carriers to develop our home inventory software, we know Collectify Home Inventory helps consumers capture and record the data that carriers need to document claims fully.”

All too often, simple documentation of furniture, fixtures, electronics, clothing and valuables is lacking when a home has suffered from a tornado or hurricane, flood or water damage, fire, theft or other loss, according to Collectify.

“Much of what an insurance carrier or adjuster requires is simply documented proof-of-loss, and it’s not there if the homeowner hasn’t been adequately equipped,” Silverstone noted. “Collectify Home Inventory aims to solve that problem for the millions of American consumers, especially those served by independent insurance agents and brokers.”

Collectify Home Inventory offers benefits to insurance professionals who purchase it for their personal lines clients, including:

  • Producers and agencies get a competitive edge by offering better services;
  • Clients document home and personal property information in a carrier- and adjuster-friendly format;
  • Agents can accept clients’ inventory data via templates (PDF or spreadsheet), making it easily retrievable at time of claim; and
  • Clients are better prepared for natural disasters and emergencies.
Collectify Home Inventory retails for $49.95 with special bulk pricing available for independent agents.

Development of Collectify Home Inventory started in 2006, after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters. “Emergency organizations were recommending that all homeowners document all their possessions to expedite recovery in case of a devastating property loss. We responded to that challenge, calling on years of experience with insurance adjusters and carriers, technology, appraising, inventory management, curatorship, and collections,” Silverstone said.
