In this issue we are highlighting Property/Casualty specialty broker and MGA, LEVERETT INSURANCE GROUP, INC. (LIG), founded by JERRY LEVERETT in 1985. Headquartered in Atlanta, the firm also has offices in Proctorville, Ohio and Elgin, South Carolina. We spoke with Jerry about his company, the value he and his staff provide to retailers and the firm’s specialty programs. Prior to founding LIG in 1985 Jerry was on the retail side of the business.

We provide reliable and accurate information to our carriers so that they can make sound underwriting decisions. “In doing so, we have mutual trust and respect.”

One of Leverett’s key programs is TRANSPORTATION COVERAGE for COAL HAULERS. The program provides coverage for: Auto Liability, Auto Physical Damage, General Liability, Pollution Liability, Excess Liability, and Motor Truck Cargo. AVAILABLE FOR OVER THE ROAD OR OFF ROAD EXPOSURES.
Leverett’s other principal program involves ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES, including Environmental Contractors, Environmental Consultants, Environmental Engineers, Hazardous Materials Handling and Transportation, Non-Hazardous Materials Handling and Transportation, Waste Haulers, Chemical Manufacturing and Blending, Energy Sites and Related Contractors, Site-Specific Pollution, Waste Transfer Sites, Landfills, Disposal Facilities, Above-Ground Storage Tanks, Below-Ground Storage Tanks, Contractors, Testing and Labs, and others. Coverage under this program includes Auto, General Liability, Property, Workers Comp, Professional Liability, Umbrella, Pollution, Inland Marine, Bonds, and Builder’s Risk.
“Our market representation could not be better within our niches and target areas. Bob Evanich runs our Ohio office. Bob has been active in the Mining Business for over 30 years. He knows the carriers, the agents, the industry,” says Jerry.
Leverett’s marketing strategy utilizes today’s technology but “nothing takes the place of personal relationships,” says Jerry. LIG became a ProgramBusiness Storefront in late 2008, early 2009. “The exposure has helped expand our reach and promote our expertise. The ProgramBusiness approach lends itself to our marketing efforts by helping us market to retailers we may not reach otherwise. Our ProgramBusiness experience has worked great. We receive many inquiries and referrals through the program, as well as obtain business off the Trading Floor. The ProgramBusiness staff makes us look good, by conveying our expertise,” says Jerry. He cites an example of a hotel in New Orleans that was referred to Leverett by ProgramBusiness. “The account was up for renewal and the retailer was unable to place the coverage through the standard market. We were able to step in and help the agent.”
