ACORD, the global insurance data standards association, announced the appointment of Puneet Bharal as the new Program Manager for its reinsurance and large commercial insurance data standards. "With a background in both project management and analysis, Mr. Bharal brings a vast knowledge of technology, insurance and reinsurance to ACORD. Having worked with other ACORD members, he is also well versed in ACORD standards and their practical application within the industry," said Ron Dudley, vice president, Standards. "His strong project management and leadership skills will be invaluable to ACORD members as the reinsurance standards continue to grow and be implemented worldwide." Mr. Bharal comes to ACORD from RI3K, Ltd where he served as product director and a consultant. He provided project management, analysis, and solution design expertise for the solution provider. Prior to that, he was employed by SITA Telecom, Gartner, and Datamonitor. He holds an MSc Management Studies from Brunel University and a BSc (Hons) Management Studies: 2i from Leeds Metropolitan University. For more than three decades, ACORD has been serving the insurance industry with standards in paper forms, EDI, and XML data standards. In 2001, ACORD assumed responsibility for continuing and advancing the development of data standards for the reinsurance sector. Since that time, ACORD standards have been identified as a key component of the London Market reform initiative to improve claims handling, accounting and settlement, and placing. Mr. Bharal will lead ACORD’s development of a Global Placing Document scheduled for completion in 2005. ACORD's role with its members to help drive the London Market reform and the international insurance market will be a focus of the inaugural ACORD Forum in London on October 19 & 20.
