The Insurance Marketing and Communications Association (IMCA) honored Past President and long-time member Nanci Evarts with the Golden Torch Award, recognizing her for an insurance career that is a shining example of an ethic of giving to others.

Evarts, who passed away earlier this year, was honored today at the IMCA Annual Meeting. Accepting the award was her son, Jeff Hoffman.

IMCA inaugurated the Golden Torch Award in 1991 with the goal of highlighting and recognizing insurance professionals whose work helps “light the way for others.” This year, IMCA's Board of Directors focused their awards search on insurance professionals who have made extraordinary contributions to their peers and colleagues.

“Nanci truly embodied the Golden Torch ethic, both in her work with IMCA and as a leader in the insurance industry,” said Linda Collins, IMCA president. “She is missed by all of us at IMCA as a colleague, friend and mentor.”

“Nanci was a long-time member and leader in IMCA and her passion for the organization was evident in all she did,” said Temie Seibert, IMCA executive director. “She devoted countless hours to the organization and her vision and commitment was contagious. She truly was a leader and inspiration to all within IMCA who had the opportunity to know and work with her. Her smile, passion and energy will be missed by all of us who knew her.”

Evarts’s insurance career included her position as vice president of Corporate Communications for Aon Services Group, the specialty services companies of Aon Corporation. She also held positions at Swett & Crawford and the 3M Corporation. In 2003, she founded Marketing Strategies Group, a marketing firm focused solely on the insurance and financial services industries.

Evarts’s leadership role with IMCA included serving as chair of the strategic planning committee and annual meeting, President and member of the IMCA Board of Directors. More than a dedicated professional, Evarts also was a strong member of the California choral community, including the award-winning Harborlights Chorus and Sweet Adelines International.
