WAHVE (Work At Home Vintage Employees), acompany that provides experienced professionals to insurance firms on a remote outsourced basis, has gained certification as a woman business enterprise (WBE) by the National Women Owned Business Corporation (NWBOC). WBE certification verifies that a woman or women has majority ownership and control of a business entity.
"WAHVE has staked out a leadership position in providing the right qualified 'phased retiree' insurance professionals for the specific needs of our insurance-firm clients," commented Sharon Emek, Ph.D., CEO of WAHVE, which was formed in 2010. "This third-party certification gives insurance firms an additional reason -- along with the talent and experience of our vintage insurance workers -- to choose WAHVE. On behalf of our business partners, wahves, investors and clients who have supported us, WAHVE is pleased to earn this certification and looks forward to the next phase of growth."
"WAHVE has been recognized in the insurance industry for its unique role in redefining retirement and creating a new horizon of opportunity for boomers," added Emek, who founded the company. "Today, so many insurance professionals want to 'segue' to a phased retirement as they approach traditional retirement age. WAHVE proudly plays a role in helping them find a new balance in life, while still contributing to the industry they know and love and transferring knowledge to upcoming generations of workers."
NWBOC is the approved third-party certifier for the U.S. Small Business Administration, which administers the Women-Owned Small Business / Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business contracting program. NWBOC was established in 1995 to increase competition for corporate and government contracts through an economic development strategy for women business owners. NWBOC is a national 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation.
Many publicly held corporations, private businesses, and government purchasing agencies have programs for doing business with women-owned vendor companies. Businesses and government entities rely on WBE certification to verify eligibility for these programs.
According to NWBOC, research has shown that after developing supplier partnerships with women-owned firms, many companies and government agencies have enhanced their bottom line for shareholders and taxpayers, respectively.
