Giuliani to Speak at Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation 2010 Fundraiser for Tri-State Charities

The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation announced that Rudolph W. Giuliani has joined the program for its 2010 benefit dinner, held Wednesday December 8, 2010 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Giuliani will serve as the keynote speaker at the fundraising event. Major League great Ken Griffey Jr. and hockey legend Mark Messier also will speak at the event and present grants to their favorite charities.
 
Giuliani, New York City mayor from 1993-2001, served as Associate Attorney General of the U.S. from 1981-83 and as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1983-93. A 2008 candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States, he is founder of professional services firm Giuliani Partners and partner of law firm Bracewell & Giuliani LLP.
 
“Rudy Giuliani is especially appreciated by tens of thousands in the insurance industry in the tri-state area as the man who transformed New York City and who bravely led us through the post-September 11 recovery,” stated David Brinkman, chair of the IICF New York Division board and executive managing director of Aon Benfield. “The insurance industry was also instrumental in the rebuilding of New York City after the attack, and we feel closely aligned.”

At the dinner, the IICF will honor Maurice R. “Hank” Greenberg, chairman and chief executive officer of C. V. Starr & Company, with the 2010 ‘Double I’ award for influence in the industry and impact in the community.
