Michael Nacht, Dean of the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley will be the keynote speaker at the Insurance Industry Charitable Fund's 2002 Kickoff Luncheons. Since the September 11th attacks, the Bush administration has mobilized key elements of the U.S. government to strengthen homeland security. Dean Nacht will discuss the implications for the insurance industry of what has been done and what challenges lie ahead. “We are really privileged to have Dean Nacht join us at both our Northern and Southern Kickoff Luncheons,” said Karen Chin, chief executive officer of IICF. “Dean. Nacht is well known as insightful and knowledgeable about U.S. Public Policy. He is also in high demand as a speaker because of his fluid speaking style and his ability to spotlight the complexities of issues.” Dean Nacht draws on a rich history including the Strategic and Eurasian Affairs of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, having directed the Agency's work on nuclear arms reduction and missile defense negotiations with Russia and designed the first high-level nuclear arms dialogue with China. He participated in four presidential summit meetings between President Clinton and Russian President Yeltsin and one Clinton summit with Chinese President Jiang Zemin. He was granted the Agency's Distinguished Honor Award, its highest form of recognition. IICF will also announce their 2002 Honoree – Saxon Riley, Chairman of Lloyds of London. Every year the IICF honors a renowned figure in the insurance industry for their outstanding charitable work. This year, the IICF will also be honoring Lloyds of London, itself, for its venerable place in the history of the insurance industry. The Northern California luncheon will be held on Friday, February 22nd at the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. The Southern California luncheon will be held at the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles on Wednesday, February 27th. A reservation form with details can be found at www.iicf.com, or call (925) 944-6465.
