IVANS, Inc., and Safeco (NASDAQ: SAFC) announced today that the Seattle-based insurance and investment company has signed a contract to use IVANS Transformation Station‘ and IVANS Station Direct‘ to enhance communication with its independent agents and distributors, streamlining the quoting process, as well as claims, billing and policy inquiries.
Through the use of a new web-based interface, independent agents and distributors will be able to manage their Safeco customer inquiries from their agency management systems – including Applied, AMS, DORIS, InStar and soon NASA – via Transformation Station. Distributors also will be able to bridge from their agency management systems to Safecos web-based new-business platform. The technology, expected to begin rolling out during the first half of 2004, will support Safeco Personal Insurance and Safeco Business Insurance. IVANS Transformation Station is an Internet-managed data exchange using ACORD XML.

Safeco views the use of Transformation Station as an important step in its drive to "uncomplicate" the insurance experience for independent distributors and customers. "Our partnership with IVANS is valuable to our long-term success."
