To re-establish its presence on Capitol Hill, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) recently opened a new office three blocks from the U.S. Capitol.
The office, at 512 C Street NE, will serve as a base for NAIFA's federal advocacy efforts. NAIFA remains headquartered in the Merrifield section of Falls Church, where it moved in May 2000. Prior to then, NAIFA had been based in downtown Washington for 45 years.
"Since selling our downtown office and moving to Virginia, we have been striving to establish the identity we had on Capitol Hill for nearly half a century," said David F. Woods, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF, NAIFA's chief executive officer. "An office just a short walk from the Capitol puts us right back in the middle of the action."
The office provides not only daily office space for NAIFA's federal lobbyists but contains excellent space to host fundraisers and other functions. "Not having a base in downtown these last four years has seriously hampered the lobbyists' ability to function as a full presence on Capitol Hill," said C. Robert Brown, CLU, LUTCF, RHU, NAIFA's president. "The new office will give NAIFA the presence, convenience and prestige of being a part of the Capitol Hill community."
