As the insurance industry kicks off its annual week of volunteerism throughout California, Mike Olson, President and CEO of the American Society of Association Executives will discuss the economic impact of nonprofit entities on the United States' economy.

"The economy has certainly undergone a dramatic change over the past year," said Karen Chin, chief executive officer of the Insurance Industry Charitable Fund (IICF). "Mr. Olson will provide great insight into what a large impact the insurance industry has onthe economy, as well as the role of nonprofit entities such as the IICF."

Olson will address insurance industry executives at a luncheon to kick off IICF Bridge Week. Instituted in 1998, IICF Bridge Week was developed to create a "bridge" between local charities and hands-on volunteers from throughout the property/casualty insurance industry. This year, from October 13th through October 21st, more than 2,700 volunteers will donate their time to support more than 80 charities.

The Insurance Industry Charitable Fund is an award-winning charitable fundraising group. In 2000, IICF raised more than $1.3 million from insurance industry donors for contributions to charities and community service organizations. The IICF also provided hundred of volunteers and thousands of hours of service to those same organizations.
